Manufacturer of manual cutting and crimping presses for leather goods

The 5HR EMG manual toggle press is the perfect model for cutting out and setting all types of materials used for the manufacture of leather goods. This press does an excellent job replacing tools such as pliers and hammers.

In leatherworking, cutting out and crimping materials are two frequent actions. In fact, while a handbag is being produced, the eyelets are used to close it (a cord is passed through them) or to insert a shoulder strap.

Advantages of a manual press for leatherworking

With a manual press, cutting out becomes simple and precise. The material: fabric, netting, iron-on products, leather, pleather etc. is cut out in a single step neatly without any burrs. Positioning the eyelet perpendicular to the machine’s nose is easy to do. The setting is also flawless thanks to the progressive increase in pressure up to the end position. Greater force is applied at the end position without requiring much more effort.

This way, it is possible to cut out fine fabrics like netting, thick iron-on products like fleece, plastic materials like shade sails or even fine materials like cow’s leather, effortlessly using the 5HR press. For thicker or harder materials, the EMG design department will help you choose the press that suits your needs.

A manual toggle press can also be used for setting snap fasteners and for applying rivets. To do this, simply use the adapted tool, held in the nose of the press with a tightening screw.

What convinced Amandine to buy the EMG manual press?

After 3 years of doing the best she could to cut out fabrics for manufacturing handbags and setting eyelets using pliers and a hammer, Amandine discovered the pleasure of cutting out materials, even fine ones like leather, using the 5HR model from EMG.

During these first three years:
- she damaged multiple cutting tools,
- hurt her hands,
- had to make several attempts to cut out and crimp properly,
- took a lot of time to do each thing.

After that, Alexandre from the EMG design department suggested using a press with a hollow punch. To do this, he worked the mandrel included in the BOEHM hollow-punch case so that it could be suitably adapted to the 5HR press model, whose 500-kg force is ideal for this leatherworking application.

The capacity that the EMG team has to conduct testing to determine the press that best meets her needs and to advise her about the ideal product for her work from the wide existing line of products, really helped Amandine to get to grips with this new equipment.

After that, she was completely convinced by this press due to just how small it was. In fact, it takes up very little space in a sewing workshop and can be moved easily. This leatherworking press is also very easy to use and adjust. It makes it possible to work faster (2 to 3 times less time) than with pliers and hammers.

And Amandine was particularly amazed by the quality of the cutting and setting. The work is done perfectly and requires only a slight effort at the end position, where the pressure must be higher. They even suggested a customized finishing (with a choice of color)!

Lastly, she was particularly appreciative of the fact that this press could be used by anyone, even by people with decreased motor functions.
